On September 22nd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) took delivery of Lupinus Planet, a VLGC (Very Large Gas Carrier). The vessel was built at the Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Industries Ltd. and will be managed by NYK Shipmanagement PTE LTD (NYKSM).
The vessel will be NYK’s first liquified petroleum gas (LPG) dual-fuel VLGC. When LPG is used as fuel, exhaust gas from the ordered VLGC will contain at least 85% less sulfur oxide (SOx) and 15% less carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to conventional VLGCs equipped with fuel-oil engines.
