First LNG Bunkering of PCTC in Singapore

On March 8, 2023, Jasmine Leader, a LNG fuelled pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) owned by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and managed by NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT PTE LTD (NYKSM) have successfully completed her LNG Bunkering.

The bunkering operation was carried out in accordance with Singapore’s Technical Reference 56 for LNG Bunkering. This standard is a key part of Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s framework to ensure safe, reliable, and transparent LNG bunkering operations in Singapore.

This marks a significant milestone in NYK Group’s sustainability effort.

NYK has set a long-term target of net-zero emissions of greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2050 for the NYK Group’s oceangoing businesses and aims at launching zero-emission ships that run on low-environmental-load marine fuels, such as ammonia or hydrogen, in the future. NYK is positioning LNG, a low-carbon marine fuel, as a bridge-solution until future zero-emission ships are realized. As part of the NYK Group, NYKSM will continue to strive for optimal balance between the environment and the economy to contribute to a sustainable society.
